JOURNEY
Coming off an injury in 1992 and lacking the conventional path to education. Todd set out on his journey to pursue a career in which he was passionate about, but college degree required was all he heard from the employment community back then. Todd was made to feel inferior by employers who would stereo type him “uneducated” for lacking a college education.
Determined to defy stereo types, Todd would later accept a challenge from an employer that would change his life and begin his unconventional path. Employers would recognize his talent, wit and determination. A successful sales career would begin to take shape.
After years, slaving to the status quo and watching talent go unnoticed. Todd knew there were others fighting for recognition.
Established in the spring of 2008. The Street Smart Jobz concept would be born from the idea that education is a journey and comes to each of us in different paths. SSJ would become the stage for street smart talent to be recognized by the employment community; shattering stereo types along the way…
Inspired in the summer of 2008, Todd would finally discover his father’s path. Todd’s dad had spent his childhood growing up in a Cleveland Ohio Orphanage. He’d “aged out” of the “system” in 1959, emancipating to a road of turmoil and hardship. An unconventional journey 50 years ago that would inspire Todd. SSJ would become more than about a job.
A street smart education for SSJ in 2009 as we connect with child advocate organizations in Orange County. We met and got to know talented, passionate and determined youth “aged out” of the “system” getting the 411 on the established path for emancipated foster youth.
In 2010, SSJ’s journey comes home with its unique message of self-empowerment and one of a kind project as it remains dedicated to “shattering stereo types” for all who are street smart.
