There are more youth in foster care who are talented, hardworking and determined but because of stereo types face a rough road to employment. This hits especially hard for emancipated foster youth who are stereo typed as “delinquents” and labeled “unemployable” by many in the employment community.
Perception becomes reality for many…nationally, 25 to 50 percent of emancipated foster youth become homeless…lack of job skills and opportunities are major contributors.
